Requirement

When the need arose to expand storage capacity and optimise operational space, AGC Glass required a flexible and scalable solution to meet evolving business needs. Faced with the challenge of finding a new storage space after giving notice on their existing unit, AGC Glass turned to Aganto, as specialists in temporary and semi-permanent buildings. AGC needed a tailored solution that would allow the business to maximise available space for storing their products and facilitating efficient loading for distribution. Aganto’s adaptable temporary industrial canopies provided the ideal solution, allowing AGC Glass to meet its storage and logistical demands with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.

The solution needed to allow movement between the existing structure in place and the new canopies to facilitate the loading and unloading process. The team also needed to be able to move freely between the two structures to allow for the movement of stock once manufactured to be stored before distribution.

Solution

Once Aganto received the enquiry, our experienced Area Sales Manager, Paul Watmore, visited the site to assess the requirements for the new structures. Given the size and complexity of the project, several site visits were conducted to ensure the best possible solution for the client. Paul was joined by our Senior Site Manager, Paul Prest, who provided valuable expertise on key aspects of the project and how Aganto’s solutions could be tailored to meet AGC’s specific needs. Together, they collaborated closely with AGC’s Engineering Manager, Duncan Brudenhall, to design a solution that would fulfil all requirements and deliver a successful outcome for the client.

Aganto installed two canopies at AGC Glass: a 20m x 20m x 6.2m canopy and a larger 25m x 35m x 6.2m canopy. The smaller canopy was connected to an existing structure via a gutter link, and both canopies were linked together, allowing forklifts to easily move products between manufacturing and storage areas. In order to enable this, additional portal beams were added between the structures to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the build. As the site where the structures would be placed was on a slope the canopies were built with wedges under the front feet to level out the ground while keeping costs down for our client and avoiding unnecessary and time-consuming groundwork.

Additionally, before construction began, the Aganto team dismantled and removed a smaller 10m x 20m building, clearing the way for the installation of the new canopies. This saved our client AGC Glass from having to arrange the removal of the small structure themselves before construction began.

Aganto’s tailored solution successfully met AGC Glass’s need for expanded storage capacity and improved operational efficiency. By installing two custom-built canopies linked to existing structures, Aganto enabled seamless movement of products between manufacturing and storage areas, ensuring a smooth loading and distribution process. The project’s complexity, from accommodating a sloped site to integrating the new canopies with existing structures, was handled with expertise and precision, thanks to the collaborative efforts between AGC Glass and Aganto’s team.

This solution not only maximised AGC’s available space but also minimised disruption to existing operations, allowing the business to continue delivering high-quality glass products without delay. Aganto’s flexible and efficient approach provided AGC Glass with a cost-effective, long-term solution that will support its growing business needs well into the future.
