Using a commercial temporary structure

In business, circumstances can change, and an opportunity can be presented which means finding the right solution quickly is important. Take for example the need for more operational space either because production is expanding or there has been an unforeseen event like a fire. A temporary structure can be a fast solution to an immediate need and is much less expensive than a permanent building.

The question is, how can temporary structures provide a quick and economic answer to a space shortage problem?

These buildings are constructed using a lightweight aluminium frame which makes them both flexible and strong. The advantages of this method of construction is that the aluminium doesn’t corrode like steel and it is totally recyclable and uses a process that needs little energy and produces minimal CO2 emissions.

Fast installation and low cost

The great advantage of temporary structures is that, because they are lightweight yet strong, they are easy to erect and can be ready for service in a matter of days. They can be erected on to an existing hard surface without the need for any additional ground preparation unlike a permanent building or one using a steel frame.

The ease of build means that, not only is time saved, but there are significant cost savings as well. The fact that foundations are not needed and the building process, reduces the design, labour and construction costs dramatically when compared with a permanent building. Not only that, but the extra operational space is ready for use in a matter of days.

If a building is only required for a comparatively short time, the dismantling process is equally quick. Once the building removed the ground is returned to its original state, although it is likely that once the building is in place, a business wouldn’t be without it!

Benefits of temporary structures

The modular design of these buildings means that they are extremely adaptable and to some extent future proof. For example a company running a multi-site operation could relocate the building if it was needed elsewhere. If it needs to be extended of altered to meet the needs of the business then this is also possible.

A temporary building is much more than just four walls and a roof, there are many roofing and wall cladding options which can offer much more than basic weather protection. An insulated building for example means items requiring a temperature controlled environment can be stored within it, or it could be used as a retail outlet if required. Insulated buildings can be supplied with polymer composite insulated wall panels or insulated steel sandwich wall panels depending on the level of insulation required.

Calling these buildings “temporary” does them a disservice in that they are a long term viable alternative to permanent buildings and indeed many businesses use them in preference to a permanent structure. The flexibility offered, together with the cost benefits, makes them an attractive proposition to businesses looking to maximise their capital costs. The ability to hire temporary structures also makes them attractive from a cash flow point of view as well as being ideal if only a short term solution is required.
